February has started, How did January go?
With a new month comes new goals and some left over goals to catch up on. But first, let's see how I did for January.
So 5 out of 12 goals. Not that good. I can blame my knees or my job or my family commitments, but at the end of the day, it's me who needs to step up and work harder to make this homemade lifestyle work. My next post will include February's goals. I also need to think about what my limitations are and how to work around or overcome them.
As always, thank you for reading and Peace!
My Goals for January 2018
-Stop eating out/ordering take out -Mostly successful. Only caved twice. Once we went to Tropical Smoothie for a smoothie because our broken blender hasn't been replaced. Then last week when I had a really painful day with my knees, Joe went and got me a salad with smoked chicken and he got a BBQ platter. Then there was the outing with Mom to Mellow Mushroom.
-Do a juice cleanse for 3 days to restart system - Fail. Add to February's goals.
-Drink at least a gallon of filtered water a day -Again, mostly successful.
-Get at least 6 hours sleep each night - Fail. I don't count the weekend since it's the workdays that are so stressful that I need the sleep to recover.
-Make own shampoo, laundry detergent, dish washing detergent - Failed to film. I made dish washing detergent and laundry detergent but haven't filmed it yet. And I am still holding out on making shampoo until I can film it. One shampoo recipe lasts the two of us for months.
-Walking 15 minutes at least twice a week.
-Almost there. My knees are still so painful and swollen from moving Mom back in December. Over the weekends I almost get relief and can do some walking, but the workdays my knees are so stiff and swollen I walk like I have tree trunks for legs.
-Sprouting grains, greens, etc. - Successful! Again, I love sprouting! It's fun to watch and delicious to eat.
-Make own sweets/stop buying store-made desserts-Fail. Working in the kitchen is so painful for my knees. I know I keep using them as an excuse, but the pain level is so high it's all I can think about. My reasons for not going to the doctor are three fold (most excuses are three fold.)
-Organize and use the recipes I've been collecting over the years (and I'll share) -Mostly Successful. I've got them in protective sleeves and contained in big 3 ring binders.
-Exploring different grains, sweeteners, oils, etc. - Fail. Next month perhaps.

-Finish reading the book, "Nourishing Traditions," by Sally Fallon Morell - Almost done! Should be finished over the weekend.
-Make at least 1 video and post it- Successful! So 5 out of 12 goals. Not that good.
