I have nothing to write about today

Sitting here at work, not much going on. The phones aren't ringing (I'm a receptionist), no functions, and my work is caught up. I've read the news, researched homes for sale, read my favorite blogs/watched vlogs and checked my email.

As I sit at my desk here at work, I can see the Atlantic Ocean. My place of work is right on the coast. My desk sits in the lobby and when the ballroom doors are open, I have a wonderful view of the ocean. The ballroom has huge windows that span two sides of the room. I get to watch dolphins swim by, birds diving for fish, vacationers walking the beach and waves crashing in a rhythmic fashion. Every so often different types of boats/ships pass by.

It seems that life goes on out there and I sit here and watch. It's beautiful and ever changing. I get to work just as the sun is rising over the ocean and at the end of the day I leave just as the light is fading and the water turns from deep blue to grey/brown. Sometimes in the morning it looks like the ocean is wearing diamonds! On rainy days the ocean seems to disappear! And I watch, sitting wondering if this is going to be the day I decide to get off of the lazy butt and start living that beach life we envisioned when we moved here over 10years ago. You know, walking on the beach each day, exploring the marshes and go fishing!

Over the years though, beach living has taken a backseat to longing for the homemade life of the country. But I digress. (I want to raise chickens!!)

Once, for my birthday, we went on a night time casino cruise but we both got motion sickness. I threw up right in front of the stairway on the upper deck (yes, that was me!) and we both had to sit with cool towels on our faces until the boat got back into harbor. I saw WAY too much of the shrimp and rice that was on the menu. I think the cruise boat lost money on us..Bad gamble letting two hippies on board!

Another birthday we took a riverboat cruise with much better results. It was a daytime inter-coastal waterway cruise which included a live DJ ( I think the dead DJ's are only for Halloween) and an institutional-style lunch. We spent most of the time outside on the deck enjoying the scenery.

I mention my birthday because it is coming up next month and Joe asked me what I wanted to do. Camping immediately comes to mind. Back in December we camped on a private lot in order to visit relatives and the temperature got down to 20F. I imagine February camping will have equally cold nights.

So that's my ramble for today. It did get mildly interesting when the banquet servers came in to set up for a function this evening. Junior cotillion classes.

Growing up, my cotillion classes included lessons on how to smoke cigarettes, how to sneak into your house after curfew without parents finding out and how to pee on a pregnancy stick. Kidding, pregnancy sticks weren't invented yet. Extra credit though for mastering the art of smuggling alcohol into a weekend youth church retreat. We also crafted a sickening concoction called, mason jar juice. It involved a mason jar (surprised aren't you?), three stupid teenagers who babysat for alcoholics and luck. The first time I worshiped a porcelain god was after drinking some of the contents from that mason jar while watching "Friday the 13th" on cable.

Well, lookie there, I had a little ramble left.

Thank you for reading! Peace!
