First Video Uploaded

As part of my goals for January, I have uploaded my first video to You Tube. No narration, just raw video of our drive on the road to Kings Mountain Campground.

This was actually our, as a couple, second camping trip. Joe has been camping his whole life and could teach classes in the subject.

Our first was two weeks earlier where we traveled and camped from Myrtle Beach, SC all the way up to Sebago, Maine with one overnight stop at Kiptopeke State Park in Virginia and a three days stop in Wompatuck State Park in Massachusetts. In Sebago we stayed at a private campground in nearby Standish called, Friends and Family Campground. On the way back we stopped in Maryland eastern shore at a private campground called Holiday Park Campground and finally treated ourselves to a one night stay at a motel in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia before heading home. That was over a 10 day trip. Since then we bought a bigger tent and have camped at Myrtle Beach State Park and over the holidays, we camped on a private lot.

Kiptopeke State Park had primitive campsites and hot showers. The night we stayed was crowded and warm. It was our first time trying to sleep in the tent and we were both getting very claustrophobic with the big queen size air mattress and all of our gear. Didn't sleep much.

As you can see, we had to tarp the shelter and the tent from the cold rain.

On on the last day, the rain stopped and we were able to pack up and head out.
In contrast, Wompatuck State Park in Massachusetts was cold and didn't stop raining until the day we packed up to continue on up to Maine. The bathhouse had no hot water in the bathhouse. Stayed chilled the whole time. The first night we arrived about 11:00pm and it was raining so hard that we just stayed in the van. I'd say we slept in the van, but that wasn't possible. We really enjoyed Wompatuck State Park. The roads were paved and the sites were well defined. The bathhouse was right across from the campsite. We had part of the family visit and we stayed well entertained, so the cold/wet conditions were just part of the fun!

In Maine we stated in the private campground, but were so busy with a family member's graduation that we forgot to take ANY pictures of the campgrounds. But it was very mosquito ridden and the hot shower situation didn't improve much. There was a port-o-potty near our campsite. We were told that we had just arrived during the mosquito season.

On the way back home we stayed at another private campground on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It was overflow camping and as you can see, the morning sun woke us up and sent us fleeing the tent. Way too hot!!!

By the time we got to Williamsburg, Va we were ready for a motel room. We did laundry in the motel's laundry room and the next day we toured Colonial Williamsburg.
