Posted a comment on Bronner's site

Lisa Bronner, Dr. Bronner's granddaughter, has a wonderful and insightful website and I highly recommend it. I subscribe to Dr. Bronner's emails and it always has useful information and special promotions. But that's not what I want to talk about. I posted a comment of her site in regards to the laundry detergent recipe I use.  http://www.lisabronner.com/sal-suds-in-the-laundry/ Laundry Detergent. I make my own. the recipe is: 1 bar of Dr. Bronner's tea tree soap 1 cup Borax 1 cup washing soda I finely grate the bar of soap ( don't recommend using any other soap than castile soap), then add Borax and washing soda. I mix it well then store in an airtight container. When using, I put 2-4 tablespoons of the detergent in the washing machine, then start adding water and then the clothes. Tip: I used to keep the open containers of Borax and washing soda in the laundry room. But I got tired of having to take a hammer to break them up when I needed to use the...

Februay Goals and a Revelation

I am going to work on the January goals I didn’t do well on, as well as some new goals. Success in goals means that I will continue them. In one of the health documentaries I watched on Netflix, one of the experts said (and I’m doing some extreme paraphrasing) "to keep incorporating good things into your life and the bad things will get pushed out." Examples-I will continue to not dine out/order out and sprouting is just too much fun to not continue. On to the Goals -Do a juice cleanse for 3 days to restart system – -Drink at least a gallon of filtered water a day - -Get at least 6 hours of sleep each night - -Make own shampoo- Whether I film it or not, this needs to be made. Bar soap dries out the hair. -Walking 15 minutes at least twice a week . - -Make own sweets/stop buying store-made desserts - My birthday is this month and my favorite cake is German Chocolate. I have only made this cake using a store bought mix and ready-made frosting. Thi...

Much a Do About Sprouted Buckwheat Groat Pancakes

Image
Last Thursday, in order to have the pancakes we enjoy on Sunday, I started making my sprouted buckwheat flour. The process does take a few days, but it is so worth the effort. Plus I find it to be enjoyable. I buy my bulk organic buckwheat groats at our local health food store. Thursday morning- Rinsed buckwheat groats and set them in a half gallon mason jar to soak in filtered water for 30 minutes. Groats don't take as long to soak as other sprouts. After soaking, drained them, put a screen lid on the jar then tilted the jar so any moisture can drain. I have a wooden cookbook holder that I use to hold my sprouting jars. My lids look like this: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/152066924892213540/,  But I've also used cheesecloth and a mason jar ring. The main reason is to keep what you are sprouting inside the jar and bugs out. I keep my draining rack in a dark spot in my kitchen where the temperature staying constant. Thursday evening- Poured about a cup of filtered ...
